Fortaleza, CE (folhapress)-a series of attacks by criminals between the night of Wednesday (2) and the dawn of this fifth (3) in the metropolitan region of Fortaleza left buses and vans burned and shook structure of a viaduct on the highway linking the capital Cearense to Brasilia.
The police investigate if there is connection between the actions and can be linked to the changes announced by the state Government for the administration of prisons in the second term of Camilo Santana (PT).
In the middle of the dawn a strong explosion frightened residents of Caucaia near a viaduct that passes through the BR-020, road that connects Fortaleza to important cities of the interior, such as Canindé, and Brasilia. At the site were found explosives and part of the structure was affected.
There are no reports of injuries and the roadblock at the moment is partial. Still in Caucaia a van that makes public transport was set on fire.
In Fortaleza there was an attack on two buses, burned in the neighborhoods Edson Queiroz and Avenida Cônego de Castro, both in the peripheral region of the city.
Speed cameras in at least two avenues and security cams have also been damaged.
In Horizonte, in the metropolitan area, a home-made bomb was thrown in the courtyard where cars were in the Demutran (Municipal Transit Department), burning six vehicles for municipal use.
The secretariat of Public Security and Social defense has not yet reported whether there are detainees.
The attacks occur after Camilo Santana announce that one of the priorities of his second term will be to harden the rules in prisons, which today have units divided among criminal factions: the three strongest in the state are the PCC (first command of the Capital) and Gde (Guardians of the state), who are allies, and the CV (Red command).
Santana created an exclusive secretariat for the subject, the penitentiary administration, and climbed to command it the civil policeman and former Secretary of Justice of Rio Grande do Norte Luís Mauro Albuquerque.
On Tuesday (1st), during the inauguration of the secretaries in the Palace of abolition, Albuquerque said that he did not recognize the criminal factions and that the prisons have to be commanded by the State, not by the criminals-in the last months videos of inmates with cellphones in Units circulated over the Internet.
There is also a possibility of reviewing the division of inmates by prisons based on the faction to which they belong, which may have triggered orders for the actions performed by bandits in the last hours.
According to data from the Brazilian Security Forum, Ceará was, in 2017, the third State of the country with more violent deaths. The rate was 59.1 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. In front of the state were only Rio Grande do Norte (68) and Acre (63.9).
In 2018, according to data released by the state, there was a decrease of 10.5% in the homicide rate between January and November 2018, compared with 2017. Even so, last year there was the largest slaughter in the history of Ceará, with 14 killed during a feast on the outskirts of Fortaleza in January, and the death of six hostages after police action to avoid assault on two banks in miracles, inside, in December.
